The Eddie Betts Foundation is an Aboriginal-led and owned, not-for-profit which has established itself as a trusted and respected organisation within Aboriginal communities across Australia.
We provide access to sports facilities, equipment and programs for disadvantaged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities, fostering a sense of belonging, health and wellbeing.
Our landmark Football Academy is core to this – bringing together close to 30 young people to provide both an elite sporting program and an environment of peer-to-peer learning and positive role modelling. Our approach is strengths-based and offers a diverse curriculum delivered by external experts to provide holistic support for our young people.
In addition to our elite sporting content, our program includes teaching on nutrition and healthy living, LGBTQI+ inclusivity, consent and gender training and financial literacy.
Complementing this is our work to increase access through our Sports Access Grants Program, and our Community Clinics. These Clinics in remote locations across Australia are a critical connection back into community – providing the opportunity to hear directly from young people and their families, while providing sporting opportunity and talent identification, and wrap-around supports (e.g. healthy eating, physical activity, connection and role modelling.)
